AMAZING! So much love for an unexpected surprise and find in deliciousness... and it's not in LA, Miami, San Francisco or NYC... Lynchburg, VA!!

To the owners of this delightful gem, please bring it to LA!!

P.S. The live music and beautiful and simple bar and friendly staff make it truly perfect. What a great! Thank you!

My husband and I have been here multiple times before the new owners. Absolutely loved the old menu. We went here Saturday night for date night and it was such a different experience. Jerk chicken appetizer and escargot were delicious! My husband got the mushroom risotto with curry shrimp-- that was "okay". I had the steak and fries. First order of fries were soggy and oily. The second order was much better! Unfortunately my medium steak was so over cooked it tasted like rubber. The waitress was nice and gave us half off the steak and a 10% off coupon for our next meal...we love downtown Lynchburg restaurants so we'll try them again but hopefully by then they'll work out their issues...

** I would have given 5 stars before Saturday night...

    Comfortable restaurant with unique food.

    Creole/Haitian cuisine.

    Lots to choose from.

Loved the jerk chicken appetizer slathered with seasoning and still all flavor and chicken.

    Drinks were creative.

    Service was excellent.

Loved sitting outside on the deck.

    Definitely a destination in Lynchburg.

Wow- ethnic food in Lynchburg.  I never thought I would see that day where something outside of Mexican opened and survived in this culinary desert.

Rendezvous is a unique and refreshing change to the standard meat & potato offerings in the central VA area and is absolutely a welcome experience.

We started right off with the Cheese plate and Escargot for apps.  The cheese plate had some very nice Roquefort, Brie and Chevre (goat's milk cheese) berries and some delicious mango-habanero sauce.  The wife was swooning.

The escargot were in the shell and not drowning in garlic butter, very light and refreshing.   A perfect start to our dinner.

For mains, we went with the Jerk Chicken and the Haitian Griot.  We had wanted the curried goat, but it was not available.  There was no mention of specials by our server.

The Haitian Griot was outstanding - roasted then fried pork that was cooked to perfection.  Came with a side of pikliz, which was a seriously vinegar based slaw - it will make your mouth pucker but it works perfectly with the pork.  Black beans were shown on the menu, but the dish came with red beans and rice.  The red bean combo was very good. Some fried plantains were also on the plate.

The Jerk Chicken was a bit disappointing as it was rather tame.  I was hoping for something with a little (ok, I am lying, a LOT) more zing to it and this just was not hitting it.  That being said, it was good and the meal was accompanied by red beans and rice and fried plantains.  All in all a solid meal but on the boring side to be honest.

The wife wanted more and the server convinced us to try the Crème Brulee and the Chocolate Pots de Crème.  Both were excellent and there were no leftovers on those.

Wines were available and it was nice to see bottles outside of the usual suspects like chardonnay and merlot.  There were some seriously decent looking cocktails available, both French and Caribbean inspired, but I was unable to partake on this trip.

All in all a very good dining experience and we will definitely be back for me.  You need to try this place, it is worth the ride downtown from anywhere in the area.

Parking is available behind and on the street

We were in town for the Fourth of July. This restaurant was a surprising delight! I love that they offer both half and full sized portions. The half sized pasta that I ordered was more than satiating and was perfectly seasoned.  My partner enjoyed his chicken, rice, and salad. It was a special. We shared a decadently delicious creme brûlée which was crispy and very tasty. Our server, Hope, was polite, kind, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the menu. While Lynchburg is not my favorite city in the world, I would certainly return here again just for this restaurant. Thank you for a wonderful and affordable meal!
